Sky News

Sky News is a source of information on events occurring around the world. As a news source, the purpose of the website is to offer its readers unbiased, full facts on events as quickly as possible so people are aware of occurrences as soon as possible and can form their own opinions on it.

In the masthead, the 'news' is emphasised due to Sky being a larger service. The news is the purpose behind this alternative sky function. The red has a sense of urgency and is used throughout the page on the current elements, especially lives. This shows how quickly news stories originate and the importance in keeping up to date, which this website tries to provide.

The Sky service is advertised at the top of the page. In comparison, the masthead has a gradient of colours instead of having a singular solid one. This displays the various of services that are offered under the provider, and coaxes users of Sky News into checking out the other ones.
A large part of Sky's demographic is UK citizens. It provides information on different events happening globally on the front page as awareness of world events are important for all nationalities to be aware of. However, the UK is the first tab next to 'Home', making the website easily navigated by UK citizens so they can specialise their news so they're especially aware of news regarding their country.

The website is easy to navigate as the stories are organised into a grid structure, allowing plenty of white space to reduce any cluttering. The sections of UK, US, Politics, World, etc, allow a distributed and specialised search for users and helps to reduce an overload. Some categories overlap, for example, the image above is of the stories included in the Politics section. Having stories display in all relevant selections helps the awareness and reduces the chance of users missing some important information because they were looking in a different section they assumed it would be under. Each story includes a time stamp to how recently it was posted, starting at the most recent up top and down to slightly older stories.
